SIU Carbondale Tuition for Recent Fall Terms

Tuition rates as approved by the SIU Board of Trustees:

The above documents note mandatory tuition rates for Undergraduate, Graduate, and Professional students, as well as tuition surcharge rates for the MSPA program and for programs in the College of Business and Analytics.

Per hour tuition rates for Undergraduate and Graduate students who started prior to Fall 2016 have been – and still are – capped at 15 hours per term, but have been – and still are – uncapped for such students who started in Fall 2016 or later.1  Per hour tuition rates for all Law students were capped at 15 hours per term prior to Fall 2014, but have been uncapped since Fall 2014.

Most students first enrolling at SIU Carbondale as on-campus undergraduates beginning in Fall 2004 or later will qualify for the "Guaranteed Tuition Stabilization Plan" (which guarantees their initial tuition rate for 4 years).  The same is true for most students first enrolling as non-military Extended Campus students beginning in Spring 2012 or later (or as military Extended Campus students beginning in Spring 2013 or later).

Unless non-resident undergraduate or graduate students qualified for an Alternate Tuition Rate program, their tuition rates are described in the above documents by noting a non-resident multiplier that is applied to the base resident tuition rate.2  The determination of residency for tuition purposes may be subject to Board of Trustee policies noted here.  In addition, a change in the domestic non-resident undergraduate multiplier effective Fall 2017 is described here.  Finally, non-resident undergraduate and graduate students who take courses identified in the Schedule Of Classes as Extended Campus courses are normally assessed resident-equivalent tuition rates for such courses.3

1 The exception to this is for the MSPA students, whose mandatory Graduate student tuition is still capped at 15 hours but whose MSPA tuition surcharge is uncapped.

2 For those College of Business and Analytics students whose mandatory tuition is assessed at non-resident rates, their tuition surcharge ("differential tuition"), if applicable, is assessed at resident rates.

3 Such Extended Campus courses are shown in the Schedule Of Classes with section numbers of 600 to 699 or 900 to 999.
